God has called us to reach people through motels, campgrounds, trailer parks, and housing authorities. We have named it Motel Mission because we want local churches to view it at their local mission field. Our overarching goal is to establish a mission presence in as many extended stay locations in and around the the Drug Triangle as possible.
We try to follow a 3 phase strategy when we approach a motel.
1) Serve a once a meal at the motel. Depending on the motel owners, available space, and manpower, this may look different from mission to mission.
2) Nurture the relationship. We target 2-3 rooms at a motel to really focus on. We believe in raising up missionaries within the motel. With these 2-3 rooms, we look for opportunities to babysit, give birthday parties, provide laundry, etc.
3) Foster Spiritual Growth. Our prayer is that once a mission is established that we begin laying the foundation for a men's and women's Bible study in or around the building.
Here is the basic layout for a normal night:
All of the volunteers (The amount of needed volunteers varies with the location) show up at least 30 minutes before it starts. We have a basic meeting, and open up the night with prayer. After prayer, we go in pairs to knock on the doors while the others get everything set up. As people begin to come we may do some of the following: eat, sing some songs, have a time of testimony and/or lesson, and/or talk and begin relationships.
Fulfill the Great Commission by going to the lost world. Following God's call to get out of our comfort zones.
We will train your church or ministry how to organize and run your own New Creation Motel Mission in your community
Anyone can serve a meal. What happens when the food is gone? Our main goal is to introduce them to Jesus, and help them grow into disciple makers.
